Osteopaths recognise that a lot of the pain that we suffer results from abnormalities in the body's structure and function.
Osteopaths diagnose and treat problems with muscles, ligaments, nerves and joints to help the body's natural healing ability.
Your treatment will be geared to your individual needs. It
will involve gentle manual techniques to ease pain, reduce
swelling and improve mobility.
What can you expect?
At your first visit, I will take a full medical history. I will then examine you to assess for tension, pain and restriction. You may be asked to perform some simple movements to help with the assesssment.

I will then discuss my diagnosis with you and agree your
individual treatment plan. You may be referred to other
healthcare professinals as appropriate for advice or investigations
including X-rays and blood tests.
A range of treament techniques will be used, including stretching, soft tissue, and mobilisation to help restore normal function. I may also give you advice on exercises, posture and lifestyle to aid recovery and prevent reoccurence.
Your initial treament will last up to one hour and follow-up
treatments will last up to 40 minutes. Normally, between two
and six sesssions are required. Many
private health insurance policies provide cover for osteopathic
treatment. |
